Why Upgrade

Why Forged Wheels Are Ideal for Audi

Quattro puts power through all four wheels, so every wheel carries drive load. Forged wheels reduce unsprung and rotating mass, helping the tyres follow the road while improving acceleration, braking, steering response, and ride. Saving 2–4 kg per corner can make a meaningful difference in how your Audi feels and performs.

Gain What it does on an Audi
Weight Forged runs 15 to 25% lighter than cast. On a 20 or 21 inch RS fitment, that's 2 to 4 kg per corner.
Handling Sharper turn-in, less nose push. Matters most on the front-biased weight of an RS6 or RS3.
Braking and acceleration Less rotating inertia. Quicker off the line, shorter stops, on unchanged power.
Ride quality Less mass hammering into bumps. A light forged 21 often rides calmer than a heavy cast 21.
Durability Aligned grain resists cracking. Kerb and pothole strikes that split cast wheels usually leave forged intact.
Strength vs cast Cast aluminum is porous, and porosity seeds cracks. Forged grain is continuous and directional.

Cast wheels start as molten metal poured into a mold, so their grain is random and the structure holds tiny voids. A forged billet has none of that. Under press force the grain flows into the shape of the wheel, so strength follows the load paths. That is why a forged Audi rim survives what cracks a cast one.

Options

Best Wheel Options for Audi

Three real decisions sit between you and the right set.

Monoblock vs Multi-Piece

A monoblock is lightest, strongest, and the correct choice for RS power. Multi-piece allows extreme widths but adds weight.

Finish

Black Audi wheels remain the most requested look. Gloss sharpens a Daytona Grey RS6. Matte hides brake dust on darker cars.

Design Style

Concave faces suit the RS6 widebody perfectly. A wide staggered rear at the right offset gets dramatic dish. We tell you what your car allows.

Fitment

Audi Fitment Guide

This is where most aftermarket purchases for an Audi go wrong. Get these numbers right and the wheel sits flush and clears everything. Get them wrong and you rub, foul, or reach for spacers. Bolt pattern. Every modern Audi is 5x112 PCD with an M14 x 1.5 thread. That has been consistent across the RS and S-line range for years, which is why so many wheels claim to fit. Bolt pattern alone does not make a wheel fit correctly.

Platform PCD Centre Bore
RS6, RS7 (C8 and C7) 5x112 66.6mm
RS4, RS5 (B9) 5x112 66.6mm
RS3 (8V and 8Y) 5x112 57.1mm
R8 (4S and Type 42) 5x112 57.1mm
A6, A7, S6, S7 (current) 5x112 66.6mm
Older A4, A6 (pre-2008) 5x112 57.1mm

Note the split. The RS6 group runs a 66.6mm hub. The RS3 and R8 sit on a compact 57.1mm hub despite their performance. A wheel built for the wrong bore will not locate on the hub, which loads the bolts in shear and introduces vibration. We machine the wheel hub-centric to your exact bore. No hub rings, no rattle.

Sizes

Audi Wheel Sizes

Size Best for Notes
18" Track S3, RS3, TT Lightest, tallest sidewall, best kerb protection. May not clear the largest RS brakes.
19" S4, S5, A-line daily Clears most brake packages, wide tyre choice, best ride balance.
20" RS3, RS4, RS5, R8 Fills the arch, sharp steering feel, strong all-round RS size.
21" RS6, RS7, e-tron The RS6 sweet spot. Correct proportion, fills the C8 arch flares.
22" RS6, RS7, SUV Q-line Show-stance size. Weight climbs fast in cast, so forged is near-mandatory here.
OFFSET RANGES THAT ACTUALLY WORK.

Offset (ET) is the distance from the mounting face to the wheel centreline. Lower pushes the wheel out toward the arch, higher tucks it in.

RS6 C8 typically lives in the ET15 to ET30 window depending on width, and Audi's own arch flares accept a genuinely aggressive 22x10.5 ET15.

RS3 8Y runs a factory reverse stagger: a wider front at a lower offset than the rear, which is integral to how the car steers under Quattro torque vectoring.

We machine your offset to ±0.5mm, which is why our rims for an Audi sit flush without spacers.

TYRE PAIRINGS.

Match tyre width to rim width, not to fashion.

Common RS pairings:

275/35 R21 on a 9.5J RS6 front
285/30 or 295/30 on a 10.5J rear
245/35 R19 on an S4
Up to a 305-section rear on an R8

Keep rolling diameter close to factory so the speedometer and Quattro stay honest.

Audi Forged Wheel Pricing

Custom forged Audi wheels run USD $3,000 to $10,000+ per set, and the spread is not arbitrary. Here is where the money actually goes.

Cost Driver What It Changes
Customization Width, offset, concavity and finish. Black and gunmetal sit at the base. Brushed, split finishes and custom colour add cost.
Engineering Per-vehicle load rating, brake modelling and FEA. An R8 rear or an RS6 22 needs more validation than a mild S5 daily.
Material and process 6061-T6 billet, 10,000-ton forging, 5-axis machining and heat treatment. This is the floor, and it is why forged costs more than cast or flow-formed.
Size and construction Larger diameters and multi-piece builds use more material and more machining time.

A set that looks identical to a cheaper one can cost more because the engineering underneath is different. If a forged Audi wheel is priced like a cast one, it is not forged. Honest flow-formed wheels are good value for mild use, but the cast centre stays the weak point. Our Singapore rim pricing guide breaks down what each method costs to make.

Our Process

THE ENGINEERING BEHIND RRT FORGED

Every wheel goes through a precision-engineered process from billet to finished product.

settings

10,000 Ton Forging

Each wheel begins as a solid 6061-T6 aluminum billet, pressed under 10,000 tons of force. This aligns the grain structure to follow the wheel's load paths, creating maximum strength at minimum weight.

settings

5-Axis CNC Precision

Every wheel is machined on 5-axis CNC to tolerances of ±0.5mm. The hub bore is cut to your exact vehicle specification for a hub-centric fit with no spacers or adapters.

settings

Finite Element Analysis

Before any wheel reaches production, it undergoes FEA simulation to map stress concentrations and optimize spoke geometry. Material is removed where load doesn't travel, making the wheel lighter and stronger.

settings

Inspection & Testing

Every wheel passes through dimensional inspection, surface quality checks, and load testing before dispatch. We maintain full traceability from billet to finished product.

settings

6061-T6 Aircraft Grade

We use only 6061-T6 aluminum — the same alloy used in aircraft construction. No porosity, high fatigue resistance, and predictable strength under repeated load cycles.

Audi Forged Wheels FAQ

Are forged wheels worth it for Audi? expand_more

Yes, if you value handling or ride quality or plan to keep the car past two years. The weight and durability gains are real physics, and a forged set typically outlasts two sets of cast wheels under hard use.

What size wheels fit an Audi? expand_more

Every modern Audi uses a 5x112 bolt pattern, with sizes from 18 to 22 inch depending on model. RS6 and RS7 run best on 21 or 22, RS3 and RS5 on 19 or 20, S-line dailies on 19. Centre bore is 66.6mm on the RS6 group and 57.1mm on RS3 and R8, so confirm both before buying.

Are forged wheels better than alloy wheels? expand_more

Forged wheels are alloy wheels, just made by a stronger process. Standard cast alloys are poured into a mold and hold porosity. Forged alloys are pressed from a solid billet, so they are lighter, stronger, and more fatigue-resistant. The difference shows up under kerb strikes and track loads.

How long does custom production take? expand_more

Made-to-order forging and machining takes several weeks depending on specification and finish. We confirm the current lead time when you place your order.

Do you make black Audi wheels? expand_more

Yes. Gloss, matte and satin black are our most requested Audi finishes, all powder coated for durability. We also machine brushed bronze, gunmetal, silver and full custom colour.

Do I need spacers for aftermarket Audi rims? expand_more

No. We machine your correct offset directly into the wheel and cut the bore to your hub. If a wheel needs a spacer to fit, it was built for a different car.
